Ebony L. Haynes Has Been Named a New Director of the David Zwirner Gallery

Ebony L. Haynes, a former director of Martos Gallery in New Yorks Chinatown and Shoot the Lobster in New York and Los Angeles, is joining David Zwirner as a director. In her brand-new role, Haynes will be developing a brand-new industrial gallery and exhibit program. “Having worked in galleries for 10 years, I have always dreamt of working in some crossway in between the museum and the gallery: a location that uses the time and space for a project to be seen and felt for longer than 4 to six weeks– time to ensure discussion, critical engagement, and a publication, yet not eliminated from the art market,” states Haynes.
“I prepare to program and curate exhibits in line with my curatorial practice, interests, and what I believe is essential, with thought-provoking and strong art practices from artists you may be really familiar with, and some you might have never ever heard of,” states Haynes. A small publication will be produced along with each program, and the gallery will host programming such as panel conversations and online content to enable viewers to more engage with the work.
